If you discover a solution to a problem, it's natural to want to scream the solution from the rooftops. It's exciting when we can solve a puzzle, find closure, and experience relief. As soon as we do, we look around and think, "How can I pass along this wonderfully insightful information to others so they don't have to go through what I went through?" Readiness is absolutely critical if others are to hear us. When others are NOT ready and an issue is time-sensitive, that's when educating, questioning and discussing are no longer effective. Advocating for your needs, or the needs of a team or organization, can be more productive. While the voice in your head might be screaming, "Just do what I say!", advocating the message of, "I need ... so that ..." is more helpful.
