Not Your Problem
I have a friend whose parent has made a terrible decision in her life. My friend and her siblings are really upset about this decision, and they are finding themselves spending a lot of time and energy attempting to get their parent to rethink her decision. When I asked my friend what it'd be like for her to care for her parent without fixing her, she said she felt like the weight of the world was coming off her shoulders. When my friend let go of the need to push her parent into a certain direction, she could focus on listening, letting go of solving, and deepening her relationship with her parent.
